What should I bring?
Bring your personal items, food and drinks, weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, bug spray, and anything special you’d like for fishing, swimming, campfires, or other activities.
Is Happy Goat Retreat just for groups?
Not at all. You can come for a couple's getaway, family weekend, individual stay, reunion, retreat, wedding, or larger group gathering.
What happens if it rains during our stay or event?
Happy Goat Retreat is an outdoor-focused property, so we strongly recommend having a weather plan for outdoor activities and events.
Can we bring fireworks because we’re outside the city?
No. Fireworks are not permitted.
Can we just show up to tour the property?
No. Please schedule tours at least 24 hours in advance.
Can we invite more people after we’ve already booked?
Contact us first. Occupancy and event limits still apply, and additional charges or requirements may apply.
Can we check out late?
Late checkout must be approved in advance and is subject to availability.
Can we arrive early just to set up?
Early access must be approved in advance and depends on other reservations and cleaning schedules.
Can we rearrange things for our event?
Yes, but please put everything back exactly as you found it to avoid the $350 cleanup fee.
Can I bring decorations for my event?
Yes, but decorations must not damage the property and must be completely removed afterward.
Can we order food or have food delivered?
Yes.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Can I bring my own fishing pole?

Can I take a fish home?
No—even if it’s a really good one. Our ponds are catch-and-release.
Do I have to stay in the Cadillac to use the property amenities?
No. Registered guests may enjoy the shared amenities available with their reservation.
Are the cargo homes air-conditioned?
Absolutely. This is Texas—we wouldn’t do that to you.
Are the cargo homes actual shipping containers?
Yes! They’ve been transformed into comfortable, unique accommodations.
Is Happy Goat Retreat actually in Texas?
Yes. We are located in Willis, Texas.
Do I need to clean up after my pet?
Yes. Please pick up after your pet throughout the property.
Can my dog be off leash?
Pets should remain under their owner’s control and should not be allowed to disturb other guests, wildlife, or the goats.
Do I need to tell you I’m bringing a pet?
Yes. Please include your pet when making your reservation or contact us before arrival.
Is there a pet fee?
Yes. The standard pet fee is $25 per pet, per night.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, pets are welcome in accommodations.
Can we smoke inside the homes?
No. Smoking is not permitted inside any accommodation.
Are sparklers allowed?
Yes, sparklers are permitted when used responsibly and safely.
Are fireworks allowed?

Can we play music outside?
Yes, within the guidelines for your reservation and while being respectful of the property and surrounding area.
Can we bring ATVs or four-wheelers?
No. ATVs and similar recreational vehicles are not permitted.
Can people visit us if they aren’t staying overnight?
Visitor allowances depend on your reservation type. Please contact us in advance if you plan to have additional visitors.
Is parking available?
Yes. On-site parking and designated overflow parking are available.
Is event insurance required?
Yes. Day-of event insurance is required for applicable events.
Can we bring our own caterer or private chef?
Yes.
Can we bring our own vendors?
Yes. Outside vendors are permitted, subject to property policies.
Is there a cleanup fee if we don’t put things back?
Yes. A $350 cleanup fee may be charged if the space, furniture, tables, chairs, or other items are not returned to their original setup.
Can we move tables, chairs, or furniture?
Yes, but everything must be returned to the way you found it before departure.
Can you set up tables and chairs for a meeting?
Tables and chairs can be arranged with advance notice.
Do you have a projector and screen?
Yes. A projector and screen are available with advance notice.
Does the Barndo have a bathroom?
Yes.
Does the Barndo have a kitchen?
The Barndo has a kitchenette, not a full kitchen. It includes an induction cooktop, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, and freezers. We also have plenty of outdoor cooking options, including grills and smokers.
What is the Barndo?
The Barndo is our gathering space available for group events, meetings, meals, activities, and celebrations.
How many people can attend an event?
Events may accommodate up to 125 guests, depending on the type of event and setup.
Do you host corporate retreats?
Yes. We can accommodate corporate retreats, workshops, meetings, and team gatherings.
Do you host weddings?
Yes. Weddings and wedding-related events can be hosted at the property.
Do you host family reunions?
Yes. Happy Goat Retreat is a great setting for family reunions and multi-generational gatherings.
Do we need to bring a lock for the love-lock wall?
You are welcome to bring a lock to add to the wall as a keepsake from your stay.
Can we paint a rock?
Yes! Paint a rock during your stay and add it to our rock garden or participate in the rock exchange.
What activities are available?
Guests can enjoy swimming, fishing, volleyball, outdoor games, campfires, movies, our love-lock wall, rock painting and our rock exchange garden.
Can we feed the goats?
Yes. We provide 1 bag of complimentary food. Please do not feed the goats anything else. We have a strict diet.
Can we pet the goats?
Guests may enjoy visiting the goats, but please respect their space and follow any posted instructions.
Are there goats at the property?
Yes! Our goats are part of the Happy Goat Retreat experience.
Can we have a crawfish boil?
Yes, groups may use the outdoor areas for activities such as crawfish boils, provided everything is properly cleaned afterward.
Can we cook outside?
Yes. Outdoor cooking areas and grills are available.
Do you provide s’mores supplies?
A small complimentary starter package is provided. We recommend bringing additional supplies if your group plans to make a lot of s’mores.
Can we make s’mores?
Absolutely.
Do you have a communal fire pit?
Yes.
Does each home have a fire pit?
Yes. Each home has its own fire pit.
Can we keep the fish we catch?
No. Please return all fish safely to the water.
Do you provide bait?
No. Bait can be purchased at the marina just down the road.
Do I need to bring a fishing pole?
You may bring your own, or fishing poles are available to rent.
Is fishing catch-and-release?
Yes. All fishing is catch-and-release.
What kind of fish are in the pond?
The pond is stocked with bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill.
Can we fish at Happy Goat Retreat?
Yes! Fishing is available for our guests.
Can we bring glass to the pool?
No glass should be brought into the pool area.
Can children swim alone?
No. Children must always have appropriate adult supervision around the pool.
Is there a lifeguard?
No. There is no lifeguard on duty. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
How deep is the pool?
The pool is approximately 4.5 feet deep.
What are the pool hours?
Pool hours are 8:00 AM–10:00 PM.
Why isn’t the pool heated during the summer?
Because it is a container pool, the Texas sunshine naturally keeps the water warm during the summer months.
Is the pool heated?
The pool is heated seasonally from November through March.
Is the pool open year-round?
Yes, the pool remains open year-round.
Do you have a swimming pool?
Yes. We have a 40-foot container swimming pool.
Do you have refrigerators available for groups?
Yes. Additional refrigerator space is available in the Summer Kitchen.
Do the homes have kitchens?
The accommodations vary, so please review the amenities listed for the specific home you are booking.
Are there TVs in the homes?

Do I need to bring toiletries?
We recommend bringing your preferred personal toiletries and anything specific you may need during your stay.
Are linens and towels provided?
Yes. Bed linens and bath towels are provided.

How many people does the Cadillac sleep?
The Cadillac sleeps up to 10 guests.
Are all of the homes the same size?
No. We have smaller Bijou homes that sleep 2 and larger Deluxe homes that sleep up to 4.
How many homes are on the property?
Happy Goat Retreat has 14 individual cargo homes plus the Cadillac. 6 Deluxe Homes that sleep 4 and 8 Bijou's that sleep 2
Can I tour the property before booking?
Yes. Tours are available by appointment with at least 24 hours’ notice. Please call or text us to schedule a tour.
Is a reservation deposit required for group bookings?
Yes. A $1,500 reservation deposit is required.
When is final payment due for a group reservation?
Final payment is due 90 days before arrival.
Do your rates stay the same throughout the year?
No. Rates vary based on season, holidays, weekends, availability, and demand.
Do you offer group rates?
Group pricing depends on your dates, number of homes needed, and type of stay. Contact us for a customized quote.
How many guests can Happy Goat Retreat accommodate overnight?
Our property can accommodate up to 50 overnight guests between the Cadillac and our 14 individual homes.
Is there a minimum stay?
A two-night minimum stay is generally required. Minimum stays may vary during holidays, special events, and peak dates.
